BATHURST – This morning, hospital foundations in Vitalité Health Network’s Acadie-Bathurst Zone launched the 2019 Roses Radiothon. The objective is to raise more than $150,000.
Part of the amount collected during the 13th edition of the Roses Radiothon will go toward improving two areas of the Chaleur Regional Hospital, namely Audiology and Gastroenterology. The new pieces of equipment will be very useful to help diagnose certain types of cancer and provide chemotherapy follow-up. Facilities in the Acadian Peninsula will receive the remainder of the money collected.
The foundations also took the opportunity to inaugurate the 2017 and 2018 editions of the Roses Radiothon. A total amount of more than $350,000 was raised during these past two editions. This amount made it possible to improve patient comfort in Oncology (replace treatment chairs and add a chair scale), purchase a phlebotomy chair, pressure monitors, a pediatric wheelchair, and specialized equipment to make breast reconstruction much more accessible to mastectomy patients.
Finally, members of the Roses Radiothon organizing committees emphasized the importance of the community which, year after year, organizes activities to raise funds for the fight against cancer. They also reiterated the importance of participating in the cause.
“Do not hesitate to participate and, most of all, remember that no matter how much you contribute, your donation will make a difference in the lives of those who have to fight the disease,” said Marie-Jeanne Noël, Chair of the Roses Radiothon for the Fondation de l’Hôpital de Lamèque.
National Bank has proudly announced a new regional initiative to help the Roses Radiothon achieve its goal.
“Since 2011, the National Bank of Caraquet has been selling paper roses to raise money for the Roses Radiothon. It’s with pleasure that we announce, this morning, that the other branches of the National Banks of the Acadian Peninsula and the Chaleur region embark in this project. For us, it is important to support the Roses Radiothon, a local cause that touches everyone”, Rachelle Godin, Branch Manager, National Bank of Caraquet.
