THE ROSES RADIOTHON : ANOTHER YEAR, ANOTHER SUCCESS

BATHURST – The Roses Radiothon, an event organized today by the hospital foundations of Acadie Bathurst was a big success. The $150,000 goal was easily reached with a total of $191 388.

It’s also important to note that from this total $114 163 will be donated to the Chaleur Regional Hospital for the fight against cancer and that $77 225 have been raised for the annual campaigns of the Acadian Peninsula. This money will be used to meet certain needs in their respective institutions.

« I would like to thank the Roses Radiothon committee, the volunteers and all the donors for their generosity. Because of you, healthcare is now more accessible in our region. Your donation makes all the difference», declared Jessica Ward, spokesperson of this 12th edition of the Roses Radiothon and mother of Jérémie, a young boy with a brain and spinal cord cancer.

This year, part of the money collected will go toward improving two areas, namely Ambulatory Care and the Oncology Clinic, and the other part will go toward the annual campaigns on the Acadian Peninsula.

In Ambulatory Care, a specialized device will make it much easier for patients who have had a mastectomy to access breast reconstruction.

In the Oncology Clinic, a phlebotomy chair and a chair scale will contribute to improving patient comfort. In addition, specialized chairs will be purchased for children and educational games will be purchased for youth aged 18 and under who have to undergo treatments at the Oncology Clinic.
