The event aims to raise awareness about the fight against cancer, raise money to improve cancer screening and treatment services at our regional hospital, and support facilities on the Acadian Peninsula to meet specific needs.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In October, participants are asked to reach out to their networks to raise money. The event will culminate in a one-kilometre walk in the shoes of someone who is battling or has battled cancer.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation in Bathurst, Fondation H\u00f4pital de l&#8217;Enfant-J\u00e9sus in Caraquet, and Fondation Les Amis de l&#8217;H\u00f4pital de Tracadie will be organizing this walk on October\u00a025 in their communities.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>2025 edition \u2013 October 1 to 25, 2025<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadahelps.org\/fr\/organismesdebienfaisance\/fondation-les-amis-de-lhopital-de-tracadie-inc\/p2p\/walk1kmmarcher1km\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">I want to contribute!<\/a><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This walk has a strong symbolic significance for people battling cancer: in their daily lives, every step they take is an act of courage. These strides are marked by moments of insecurity and put a severe strain on those affected and their loved ones. What&#8217;s more, people with cancer have to bear the burden of frequent travel to obtain treatment and often feel as though they are walking on eggshells in the hope of a cure. This event is intended to be a caring gesture of support to give hope to their fight.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Walk 1 km in my shoes<\/strong> takes place throughout the month of October, which is<strong> Breast Cancer Awareness Month<\/strong>, and ends with the walk.
