Bathurst<\/strong> – Foundations of the four Acadie Bathurst hospitals this morning launched the 12th Rose Radiothon. The objective of this Radiothon is to raise more than $ 150,000 to purchase equipment for the fight against cancer at our regional hospital and to support the annual campanes of the Acadian Peninsula.<\/p>\n

“The Radiothon des Roses is an opportunity for us to raise awareness of the importance of our health care facilities and to show that by working together as a region, we can help health professionals by equipping them with state-of-the-art equipment. Once again this year, we are grateful to have several partners in the media, Acadie Nouvelle, CKLE, CKRO and Max 104.9. Thanks to their support, we are convinced that we will have a strong voice that will enable us to reach the entire population, “says Marie Jeanne No\u00ebl, President of the Radiothon des Roses for the Lam\u00e8que Hospital Foundation.<\/p>\n

This year, the money raised will improve two areas: ambulatory care and the oncology clinic. Some of the money raised will also be donated to the annual campaigns of the Acadian Peninsula. In ambulatory care, a specialized device will make breast reconstruction much more accessible to patients who have had a mastectomy. For the oncology clinic, a phlebotomy chair and a weighing chair will help improve patient comfort. In addition, specialized chairs for children as well as educational games will be purchased for young people aged 18 and under who must undergo treatment at our oncology clinic.<\/p>\n

Jessica Ward, mother of a six-year-old boy with a brain tumor, testifies to the importance of having care close to home.<\/p>\n

“In July 2014, we faced the unimaginable. We learned that our only son, who was not quite 3 years old, had cancer of the brain and spinal cord. After 10 months in hospitals in Quebec, we went back home to Bertrand. But, the respite was short-lived, since a few months later, the cancer was back at the age of four.<\/p>\n

Today, six years old, J\u00e9r\u00e9mie continues his fight against the disease. He is resilient and he faces his fears. My son is my hero. To see him love life so much despite all that he has to overcome is what gives me the strength to continue and give my best.<\/p>\n

For us, being treated close to home, that makes all the difference. Since the announcement of his relapse, J\u00e9r\u00e9mie has received 115 chemotherapy treatments at the Oncology Clinic of the Chaleur Regional Hospital. Even though we have to travel back and forth between the Acadian Peninsula and Bathurst for chemotherapy, coming back to sleep at home, in our business, that makes all the difference. We have a semblance of normal life. ”<\/p>\n

The Radiothon of Roses<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since 2007, the North East Hospital Foundations have been working together to improve the quality of treatment and services offered to women in our region. Together, we raised more than $ 1.8 million, or $ 1,214,168 for the Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation to purchase equipment to improve the screening and treatment of certain cancers, and 640,188 $ for the foundations of the Acadian Peninsula to meet their respective needs.<\/p>\n

“I thank all the volunteers and donors who, every year, support the fight against cancer and give hope to all fighters so that one day, this terrible disease belongs to the past. To all those who struggle, to their loved ones, to families afflicted by evil, whether physical or psychological, I wish to remind you that you are not and will never be victims.
