Bathurst – This Friday, April 29, the team of volunteers of the Radiothon des Roses was on hand for its 16th edition to help raise funds for the 2022 edition, whose objective is $180,000. This event, organized by the four Acadie-Bathurst Hospital Foundations, aims to raise awareness about the fight against cancer, while raising money to improve cancer screening and treatment services.
A record amount of more than $266,857 was raised, allowing us to surpass our initial goal of $180,000! What a great collective success for health care at home first! We must also recognize the professional work of our radio hosts (CKLE, CKRO and BOUNCE), as well as the support of our partners such as the Acadie Nouvelle newspaper! We were able to hear many testimonials to demonstrate the importance of home health care in the first place.
The presidents, Mona Losier, Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation, Joseph Lanteigne and Annie Gauvin, Fondation Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus de Caraquet, Marie-Jeanne Noël, La Fondation de l’Hôpital de Lamèque Inc. and Eric Robichaud, Fondation Les Amis de l’Hôpital de Tracadie were all on the spot in their communities on the day of the Roses Radiothon. “We want to express our gratitude and say a sincere thank you for the tremendous support! Thanks to your donations, this is making a difference for people who are fighting for their lives against disease with care close to home and families who support them.”
This 16th edition would not be possible without the exceptional commitment of our many volunteers! Thank you to all those who were willing to testify or to chair the various radiothon committees in each foundation.
The Roses Radiothon is a collaborative activity where 20% of the funds raised in the Acadian Peninsula will be invested in the fight against cancer at our regional hospital and 80% of the funds raised will be used to improve the care and services offered in our Acadian Peninsula hospitals through the purchase of various equipment.
